The Chevrolet Impala is a full-size car that Chevrolet has been building in the United States since 1958. Initially, the Impala was the luxury version of the Bel Air model and thus the top model.
With the introduction of the Chevrolet Caprice in 1966, it became the medium equipment variant.
In model year 1959 there were two models, a two-door hardtop sports coupé and a two-door convertible, which bore the additional designation Impala.
They were built on the GM-B platform, had an X-shaped frame with wheels suspended individually on double wishbones at the front and a rigid axle with trailing arms and Panhard rod at the rear. With the model year 1959, all vehicle shapes changed.
The opulent tail fins became smaller and the massive bonnets flattened into the fenders.
