Surakarta - Javanese board game with a lot of tactics
According to various sources, Surakarta is a Javanese board game named after the Indonesian city of Surakarta.
The game, however, has not yet been proven to be a traditional Javanese board game by a reliable source.
Originally, people there probably played it with shells or stones and simply drew the game board in the sand.
Two players play against each other with 12 pieces each. With each move a stone is either drawn or captured.
In a single move, you can move diagonally in all directions. But hitting is not possible this way. If the field is occupied by an opposing piece, you cannot move there.
Hitting is only possible via the circles. The train can also run over several circles. If, at the end of the circle move, the player lands on a space occupied by an opposing figure, this is considered defeated and must be removed. If a player has no more pieces, he is defeated.
The game board is extra large (approx. 49 x 49 cm) and is made of multiplex wood. Recesses are milled in for the game pieces.
The game figures - also called game cones - are designed with a height of approx. 60mm and a diameter of approx. 30mm.
Note: The game board is made of multi-layer plywood, which when processing and inserting the recessed playing fields can lead to the playing fields appearing in a light or dark wood look depending on the depth of processing and the layer structure (see our product photo in which the playing fields are dark ).
The light or dark wood look cannot be influenced by us and is given by the layer structure in the wood and does not represent a processing error.

Game preparation:
Two players play against each other, with the first player choosing 12 sprues of his color and placing them in the matching indentations on his side of the board. The opponent in turn places his 12 sprues on his side in the recess on the board.
Course of the game:
The youngest player starts with a move.
One of their own pieces is drawn alternately in each round. With each move you either just move or capture one of your opponent's pieces.
In the case of a simple move without hitting, you can move forward as well as backward in a straight line in either a horizontal, vertical or even diagonal direction to any free adjacent point.
In the case of a hitting move, the token moves (also across several unoccupied spaces), whereby the move must lead over at least one of the arches until it hits an opposing sprues, which the player can then remove and take his place. Attention, the move can also lead over several free fields and several arcs in order to then defeat the opposing sprues)
The loser is whoever has no more sprues left.
