Ludo - The classic board games now also for blind and visually disabled people

Ludo - the board game for up to 4 people.
It is one of the classics among German board games and is a derivative of the Indian game Pachisi.

After seeing our LUDO board game, a customer asked whether we could redesign the game so that it could be played by the blind or visually disabled people.
This challengepushed us on and we came up with a solution. Here is the result that we can now offer to you.

Basically, the well-known wooden game board with the large figures (60x30mm) and the pot holes serves as the basis.
So that even blind players can feel and differentiate between the figures, we first changed our large game pins and ground their heads to different shapes.

In addition to the classic round head, these are now also square, oval or triangular available.
Then we surrounded the start fields with a wooden frame that refers to the start field and is provided with the symbol of the head shape of the game pins.
The target fields have also been framed so that they can be felt.
In addition, we have provided all the playing pins with a wooden pin on the bottom and drilled a central hole on all playing fields. In this way we also prevent the pins from falling over when they are touched or felt; and they stand even better in the pot fields.

All cones, the start and finish field frames are painted in a corresponding color and the board is oiled.
It is also supplied with two 30mm large cubes, the eyes of which are recessed and also allow keys to be pressed.

Rules:
The aim of the game is to move your four playing pieces from the starting spaces to the target spaces, often called “houses”. To do this, the pieces must go around the board once. A die decides the number of spaces to be drawn per round. It is rolled and placed in turn.

Note: The game board is made of multiplex plywood, which when processing and inserting the recessed playing fields can lead to the playing fields appearing in a light or dark wood look, depending on the depth of processing and the layer structure. (See our product photo in which the playing fields are dark).
The light or dark wood look cannot be influenced by us and is given by the layer structure in the wood and does not represent a processing error.
