Hummer M998 (HUMVEE) as 3D large model
The Hummer, or the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (short: HMMWV, mostly called Humvee for the sake of simplicity) is an all-terrain vehicle that was developed as the successor to the M151 for the U.S. Army and has been developed by the U.S. manufacturer since 1985 AM General is produced in different versions.
On March 22, 1983, the U.S. Army entered into a $ 1.2 billion contract with AM General to supply 55,000 HMMWV units in 15 different designs, following a bid for this vehicle in the 1970s against the Lamborghini LM002.
The U.S. Army eventually ordered 70,000 units, increasing the order volume to $ 1.6 billion.
It was the largest military wheel vehicle contract ever signed by the U.S. Army. In 2007 the U.S. Marine Corps had approximately 20,000 Humvees and the U.S. Army more than 120,000.
The name of the US Army is M998 Series.
It is an all-wheel drive multi-purpose vehicle with a payload of 1.25 tons. The Humvee is versatile and has a high mobility and speed.
It replaced a whole range of outdated light transport vehicles, such as the M151 MUTT, the Dodge M880 pick-ups, as well as the M561 Gama Goat and M274 Mule.
The HMMWV were tested by the US Army under the most demanding conditions, such as combat conditions in the most difficult terrain, over rocky hills, through 1.50 m deep water, in deep desert sand, as well as in arctic cold.
To save weight, u. a. the drive shafts reduced in diameter. In order to be able to transmit the same power as with conventional shafts, the speed of the shafts was roughly doubled so that the torque could be halved accordingly.
In order to reduce this speed difference on the wheel again, countershaft transmissions were installed on each wheel, which also made it possible to increase the ground clearance.
This design is called the portal axis. So a Humvee has 45 cm ground clearance (center of the axle). (Portal axles have also been used for a long time on the VW 181 Kübelwagen, the Unimog, the Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer and Haflinger and the Volvo C303 Laplander.)
AM General is building the vehicle in Mishawaka, Indiana. O’Gara Hess & Eisenhardt builds the armor for the M1113 and M1114 models.
In 2010, AM General delivered the last 2,600 Humvees to the US Army to meet their total needs of 150,000 vehicles.
Humvee's vulnerability to booby-trafficking attacks in Afghanistan and Iraq accelerated the development and procurement of the MRAP, with the Humvee's range of tasks increasingly limited to logistical operations.
The US Army delivers decommissioned vehicles to various US police authorities. They then use the vehicle for special tasks.
Item Description:
Material: wood
Dimensions approx. 61 x 34,5 x 28 cm (LxWxH)
Weight approx: 2,5 kg
Content: 1 x lasered kit with 268 parts / assembly instructions
Supplied as a lasered kit. This must be assembled by yourself.
No tools needed. The parts must be glued.
The kit is made of wood and has been lasered. This will cause the edges to look burnt and possibly leave traces of soot and smoke on the wood. These can be easily removed with fine sandpaper.
All components are laser cut so that there is a "beautiful" front and a marked, production-related "bad" back. Make sure that the good side always points to the visible side.
These soot and smoke marks as well as the fact that wood is a natural product, which is dimensionally influenced by basic physical laws such as temperature and humidity, there are certain limitations in the nature of the products, which must be consciously accepted.
We offer the most careful choice of material and the most modern production methods, nevertheless one has to accept with wood the peculiarities and unimpeachable characteristics, which are to be observed again and again in the practice - therefore these can not be claimed by the buyer as a material defect.
