Hnefatafl - The tactical viking and sailor game for 2 people.
Hnefatafl, also called King's Fiddle is an old Scandinavian board game played by the Vikings in Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Great Britain, Wales and other places.
Just like chess, Hnefatafl is a purely strategic game without random moments. Unusually, however, each of the two players is following a different goal - and that's exactly where the challenge lies.
The "inner" standing figures represent the Kingsguard, which protect your king (the biggest figure in the game) in the middle. The goal of the king is to escape his captors, meaning to reach one of the four corners (escape castles). The outer figures, on the other hand, are the attackers whose goal it is to prevent this by surrounding the King and making him unable to move.
A tactically challenging and interesting game for 2 people. Due to the tactical and strategic orientation it may only be recommended from 10 years on.
