The Apollo Lunar Module (short LM for Lunar Module) was built in the 1960s and was constructed in two stages. The lower part - the descent module - remained on the lunar surface when it returned. A total of fifteen of these ferries were made. Six of them landed on the moon with astronauts from 1969 to 1972 (Apollo 11/12/14/15/16 and 17).

In 1969, Union Pacific was retiring the last of their gas turbine-electric locomotives. Union Pacific had ordered EMD DD35s and DD35As to replace the turbines, and the DDA40X was a further development. The first DDA40X, UP # 6900, was delivered in April 1969, in time to participate in the celebrations of the centennial anniversary of the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad driving the "Gold Spike Limited"; it arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah, on the morning of May 10, 1969. Forty-six more were built between June 1969 and September 1971, numbered from 6901 to 6946.

The Union Pacific Railroad (UP) Class 4000, known as Big Boy, is the largest and most powerful steam locomotive series of the UP and the largest and most powerful steam locomotive in operation in the world.
A total of 25 examples of the type were built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO), 20 in 1941 and five in 1944. The machine was designed by a team led by Otto Jabelmann.
The name Big Boy comes from an unknown employee of the ALCO works, which he wrote in chalk on the smokebox. The name quickly became common for the UP Class 4000 locomotives.
